Technology 2
I can honestly say that I have learned more this summer than I could have imagined. It is definitely different than any "make and take" workshop I have attended. Creating my avatar has been my favorite so far. I can see so many ways that I could use it and show others how to do it too. It was so easy. Making the movie was also easier than I thought it would be. I can't wait to get back to school and show others what I have learned. It does frustrate me though that my school has very little new or updated technology while other schools have so much. I realize that when I finish this program, I will have to devote some time to write for some grants to help make my school more up-to-date. I have seen how just a few pieces of hardware can be used to really enhance instruction. I have also seen how to keep the lessons focused on the content rather than the technology. That is still very important to me. Above all, I am impressed at the way Trevecca has organized the MLIS program. I feel very much a part of a group. The way that the program is designed definitely promotes collaboration.

I feel your pain when you talk about the lack of technology in your school. I had always looked at it like "we have a lot of computers, so that is fantastic". Yes that is great, but we need so much more. Our school doesn't have the web cams, digital cameras, or the video cameras like so many others. We only have a couple of cameras for the whole school. I would loe to do the video with my class! It was a lot of fun.
These technology classes have taught me so much also. I can see such potential in all of the different methods enhancing our curriculum. I also see many uses with limited technology which smaller schools can afford now. I think by the time we save money for one type of technology another more interesting or advanced type is on the market. This makes it extremely difficult to keep on the cutting edge in certain school systems.
These two technology classes have really been great. Even though I work with technology on a daily basis, these two classes have given me opportunities to work with technology that I have never used before. I have learned so much. Even though being a school librarian is not in my future plans, I have been able to share what I have learned with my husband. He has always been a somewhat reluctant adapter of new technology, but he has been very excited about the applications of what I have learned to his classroom.
